Jessie Nell Harkins

Mrs. Jessie Nell (Noe) Harkins, age 83 of Moody, formerly of Fayette passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 at her daughter's residence.

Mrs. Harkins was born in Amory (Monroe County) Mississippi on March 13, 1936. She lived in Jefferson and Walker counties for a short time and then her parents moved them to Fayette at the age of 12. Fayette was her home until 2015, then moving to Leeds, AL to be closer to her daughter.

Mrs. Jessie Nell was always a hard worker, for her family as well as the ones around her. She was known for her cooking and baking, while we can't forget about her love of doing wedding and birthday cakes at her business, the "Cake Castle". She dearly loved her family, church family, but most of all her Lord.

She is survived by her husband: Billy Dean Harkins of Leeds, formerly of Fayette, son: Dwight Dean Harkins (Debra) of Harvest, daughter: Tammie D. Thomas (Alan) of Moody, sister: Wilford Humber (Jason) of Mt. Olive, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Rueben and Beulah Owen Noe, and three sisters: Connie, Mary and Ruebena.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 2:30 P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens. Bro. Jarrett Lovelace and Bro. Rickey Bradford will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 - 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Timothy Kimbrell, Dale Cole, Lucas Kimbrell, John Fagin, and Clint Madison.
