Jerry Lindsey

    Mr. Jerry Wayne Lindsey, age 74 of Fayette, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper.
    Mr. Lindsey was the son of the late Cecil and Susan Lindsey.
    He graduated from Fayette High School, received his BS degree from Auburn University, Masters degree and AA certificate from the University of Alabama. He was a teacher in the Fayette School system, head track coach and assistant football coach. He later became the director of the Fayette County Area Vocational Center. He served as Superintendent of Education for Fayette County until his retirement. He was a member of Fayette United Methodist Church.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Stewart Lindsey, and sisters: Betty Williams, Peggy Canant, and Sue Loftis.
    Survivors include his wife of 50 years: Judy Willingham Lindsey of Fayette, son: Matthew Lindsey (Kelly Rose) of Winfield, grandchildren: Parker Lindsey, Becton Brown and Ann Charles Lindsey, sister: Rebecca Deal (Gene) of Fayette, and brother: James “Buddy” Lindsey (Jeri Sue) of West Point, GA.
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 3-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens. Bo Lloyd and Carl Porter will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1-3 P.M. at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers will be: Buddy Carroll, Jimmy Campbell, Bill Newton, Sammy Renfroe, Bob Renfroe, and Harry Unger.
