Richard Nelson

Richard Nelson

Owner/Funeral Director/Embalmer

Richard Nelson has over 30 years experience in funeral services. He graduated Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, AL, where he received his degree in Mortuary Science and was licensed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer. He founded Nelson Funeral Home in 1987 and has proudly served his community through the years. Richard has been married 40- years to Gearldine Guin Nelson. They have three children, Jason (Christi) Nelson, Adrienne (Royce) Childers, and Gretchen (Mark) LaForty, and four grandchildren. Richard and Gearldine are members of Fayette First Baptist Church, where Richard was the former Sunday School Teacher and Training Union Director. He is a member of the Gideons International, a Christian Business organization providing Bibles to those who are in need of God's Word.. A former member of Fayette Lions Club. He was the past president of the Fayette Lions Club, and former Fayette County Coroner for 12 years. Richard was awarded by former Governor, Don Siegelman, the Honorary Colonel Award in the Militia of the State of Alabama, having been deemed of meritorious character.


Jason Nelson

General Manager/Funeral Director

Jason Nelson graduated Fayette County High School in 1990. He is a licensed Funeral Director and also a Pre-need Counselor at Nelson Funeral Home. Jason is married to Christi Frost Nelson. They have two beautiful children, Sydney and Mackenzie. Jason and his family are members of Southside Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon.


Scott Mayo

Office Manager/Funeral Director

Scott is a 1984 graduate of Fayette County High School. He attended Bevill State Community College. He is a licensed Funeral Director and is the office manager at Nelson Funeral Home, where he has been employed since 1994. Scott attends Mercy Point Ministries where he is the Minister of Music. Scott also offers his ministry of music as a service at Nelson Funeral Home.

Scott Rushing graduated Fayette County High School in 1987. He is an Apprentice Funeral Director at Nelson Funeral Home. Scott is married to Lisa Phillips Rushing and they have two children, Ashley McDonald and Will Rushing.

Amber Stewart Isham

Amber Stewart Isham

Funeral Director/Embalmer

Amber is a Hubbertville High School graduate. She attended Bevill State Community College for one year before transferring to East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, MS, where she received her degree in Funeral Service Technology.  Amber is a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer. She and her husband Joel are active in church ministry, as Joel is the pastor of the Glen Allen Church.

Jimmy Campbell

Jimmy Campbell is a licensed Funeral Director. He is a Vietnam Veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Alabama Army National Guard. He is retired as the Fayette County Veterans Service Officer. Jimmy is married to Robin Campbell. They attend Fayette First United Methodist Church. He is a member of Charles Baskerville Masonic Lodge #281, Scottish Rite & Zamora Shrine Temple, VFW Post #5406, and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #786.


John Stowe

John Stowe

Assistant Funeral Director/Part Time

John Stowe has been in the funeral service for many years. He graduated from West Highland High School and attended Tennessee State College in Nashville, TN. He served in the United States Air Force. He currently serves on the Board of Education for Fayette County. He is a deacon and active member at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. John is married to Brenda McCollum Stow and they have two daughters, DeAndra and Kendra.
