Ms. Marjorie Karr, age 84 of Fayette, passed away Thursday at Fayette Long Term Care. Funeral services will be held on Monday July 16, at 1-p.m. at the Zion Chapel AME Church with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1-p.m. until 2-p.m. for viewing. Nelson Funeral Home will be directing. Ms. Marjorie Karr departed this life suddenly on July 12, 2012 at Fayette Long Term Care. She was born March 6, 1928 to the late Bell S. and Roverda Carr. At an early age, Marjorie joined Zion Chapel AME Church. She moved to New York early on in her life but moved back to Fayette in her latter years. She resided with her family. She eventually became involved with Northwest Mental Health where she stayed with Mrs. Bennett Kemp and then later in apartments. She later resided in Fayette Long Term Care. She was preceded in death by her parents: Bell S. and Roverda Carr, brother: Babe Ruth Carr, sisters: Venola Pierce, Alberta Womack, Verdella Montgomery, and Cardie Mae Nalls. She leaves to cherish her memory, two brothers: Bell S. Carr, Jr. of Fayette, Melvin (Ruth) Carr of Louisville, KY, two sisters: Wyvonie (Wardell) Wright of Fayette, Veree Carr of Mt. Vernon, NY, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
